Earth Day from Kids' Perspectives - PKTR 26

Well, we were wrong, this was actually our 26th show, but who's counting.

The topic was Earth Day (which was officially celebrated on April 22, 2008).

Download the show to hear a wide variety of ideas, thoughts and suggestions from some tweens (and a mom) about how we can do just a little to help the environment a lot.

Some of the websites you'll hear about (and some others which we like but didn't have time to get to) include the following:

Special thanks to our guest caller, Nadege, for contributing some terrific tween perspectives!

More Work to Be Done

The co-hosts of Parents and Kids Talk Radio are consumed by a project that will prevent them from hosting the show live this week. Instead, we'll rebroadcast one of our most popular shows, Perfect Picture Books.

Thanks for staying tuned!

Pet Peeves and Poetry - PKTR 25

Do you have any pet peeves? Listen to this podcast to hear our top peeves. They may surprise you.

Then, at the halfway mark, after all that complaining, we balance the show with a discussion of poetry. It is National Poetry Month after all...

In today's show, we'll tell you about our experience with a poet who used to be one of our favorites...until we met him. Why does this guy go out on tour? Not very pleasant. You'll have to listen to the show to find out who he is and why we will never buy another one of his books.

Here are some of the books we mention in the show:

Joyful Noise by Paul Fleischman

Let There Be Light by Jane Breskin Zalben

Tales from Shakespeare by Tina Packer

J. Patrick Lewis's books (like Please Bury Me in the Library)

and Shel Silverstein's books (like Falling Up).

Join us again next week on Parents and Kids Talk Radio.

Thanks for listening!

April Fool's - PKTR 24

Wacky, kooky, nuts. That's what this show says to me. It's the worst show yet. So, listen at your own risk.

Happy April Fools Day!

The books we mentioned in the show were these (seriously):

and

Join us next week, when we hope the show is back on track...

As always, thanks for listening!

Halfway Hiatus

PKTR logo

We're halfway through our first year of podcasting!

Wow!

We hope our listeners will tolerate a little hiatus. We'll be taking a few weeks off to work on the show, reflect on our progress, discuss possible changes, and more. In the meantime, send us a note at pktalkradio@yahoo.com if you have any ideas for our show. Should we bring in guests? Do you have any topic ideas? Let us know!

Then, join us on March 29 for our exciting return!

Thanks for your continued support! We really appreciate it!

Dr. Seuss and Read Across America - PKTR 23

My blogger friend over at Building Camelot wrote a great post about Read Across America and we liked it so much, we decided to devote a show to this celebration of reading.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss! Well, that wish would undoubtedly mean more if he were still alive, but...in honor of his birthday, we discuss all things Seuss in this show.

Seussville

You'll hear about Seussville, Fox in Socks, Cat in the Hat and so much more!

Fox in Socks
Is your tongue numb yet?

We mentioned a place in Universal Studios where you feel as if you're in Seussville. That place is called Seuss Landing and it's at Islands of Adventure within Universal Orlando. For more information, just visit their site.

Thanks for listening!
